Greensboro, NC - The Furman women's tennis team won their second straight Southern Conference match with a 6-1 win over UNC Greensboro Sunday afternoon. The win improved the Lady Paladins to 7-5 (2-0 SoCon) with the Spartans falling to 3-7 (0-2 SoCon).

Furman jumped out to a 1-0 lead with wins in all three doubles matches. The 28th ranked duo of Laura Gioia and Marti Morris defeated Lisa Suggs and Emily Wade in flight one while fellow Lady Paladins Lauren Osborne and Jacqueline Eckert won their flight two match over Sophie Rychlik and Lourdes Moran both by a score of 8-2. In the flight three match Shannon Moore teamed with Lisa Bornt-Davis for an 8-4 victory over Whitney Miles and Erica Zabkar.

Furman's success continued in singles as they went on to capture five out of six matches. Playing at No.1 Laura Gioia downed Lisa Suggs 7-5, 6-1 and in flight three Lauren Osborne blanked Whitney Miles 6-0, 6-0. Shannon Moore won her flight four match over Erica Zabkar 6-4, 6-2 while Bonnie Baird cruised to a 6-3, 6-0 victory over Lourdes Moran in flight five. The Lady Paladins final victory came in flight six with Lauren Tomory downing Sophie Rychlik 6-2, 6-3. UNC Greensboro picked up a singles victory in flight two with Emily Wade defeating Marti Morris 6-4, 6-4.

With the win Furman extended their regular season conference win streak to 63 matches. The Lady Paladins return to action on Wednesday, March 15 when they play host to Georgia Tech at 2:30 PM.
