60th Ranked Lady Paladins Defeat Cal State Northridge 5-2

Santa Barbara, CA - The 60th ranked Furman Lady Paladins evened their record at 5-5 Saturday with a 5-2 win over Cal State Northridge in Santa Barbara, California. The win wrapped up a three match west coast swing for Furman during which they posted a perfect 3-0 record.

Furman got on the board first capturing all three doubles matches. In flight one the 27th ranked duo of Laura Gioia and Marti Morris won their match 8-6 over Silvia Gutierrez and YuYu Myinttun. At No.2 Jacqueline Eckert and Lauren Osborne defeated Canna Furuta and Kanykey Koichumanova 8-6 and in the match at No.3 Bonnie Baird teamed with Lauren Tomory for a 9-7 victory over Ana Matijasevic and Olga Yepremian.

In singles action Furman captured four of the six matches to secure the 5-2 victory. Marti Morris downed Canna Furuta 6-2, 6-3 in flight two while in flight three Lauren Osborne ousted Kanykey Koichumanova 6-0, 6-4. Playing at No.4 Shannon Moore fought her way to a 7-5, 6-4 win over YuYu Myinttun and in flight five Bonnie Baird defeated Ana Matijasevic 6-1, 6-3. Cal State Northridge picked up victories in flights one and six with Silvia Gutierrez downing Laura Gioia 6-4, 6-2 and Olga Yepremian knocking off Natasa Manojlovic 6-2, 6-1.

The Lady Paladins begin their Southern Conference schedule next Saturday as they travel to Elon, NC for a 1:00 PM match against Elon.
