Lady Paladins Fall 4-3 at San Diego

SAN DIEGO, Calif. - The No. 52 University of San Diego snapped a two-game losing streak Sunday afternoon when they defeated visiting Furman University by a score of 4-3. With the win, the Toreros improve to 2-3, while the Lady Paladins fall to 3-3 on the season.
Caroline Bentley and Mary Neill Hagood combined to win No. 1 doubles 8-3, but the tandem of Marti Morris and Jacqueline Eckert fell 9-8 at the two spot. The No. 3 double match was won by USD's Helen Lindstrand and Tara Livesay. The duo defeated Furman's Shannon Moore and Lauren Osbone 8-6 to secure the doubles point for the Toreros.
In singles action, Furman's Caroline Bentley earned a 6-3, 6-1 win over Lauren Perl at No. 2 , while Jacqueline Eckert defeated Jenny Brown 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (10-7) at No. 5. Furman also picked up a victory at No. 6 singles, when Lauren Osborne topped Helene Lindstrand 6-3, 6-2.
Furman, 3-3 on the season, returns to action on Wednesday, March 2, with a 2 p.m. (PST) match against Cal State Fullerton in San Diego, Calif.
