Lady Paladins Roll Past Georgia State 6-1

Greenville, SC - The Lady Paladins moved to 3-2 on the year with a 6-1 win over Georgia State Friday evening at the Mickel Tennis Center. With the loss, the Lady Panthers fall to 4-3 on the year.
For the fourth time in five matches, the Lady Paladins took the early 1-0 lead with wins in two of the three doubles matches. In singles play the Lady Paladins jumped on Georgia State early capturing the first three matches. At No.1 Mary Neill Hagood downed Anne Breiholtz 6-4, 6-4 and in flight three Shannon Moore defeated Mateja Podgorsek 6-4, 6-1. Jacqueline Eckert then sealed the dual victory for Furman with a win over Simona Foltyn 6-0, 6-1. Georgia State got on the board when Birte Koewing downed Marti Morris 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 at No.4. Furman then went on to win the last two matches to make the final score 6-1. In flight two Caroline Bentley shook off a first set loss to win 5-7, 6-2, 7-6(6) over Annamaria Forgacs and at No.6 Lauren Osborne eased by Kiera Strickland 6-3, 6-1.
The Lady Paladins travel to San Diego, California for a three match road trip beginning on February 27 against No.51 San Diego.
