Furman Women Shut Out Birmingham Southern 7-0

Auburn, AL - On Sunday the Furman women's tennis team evened their record to 2-2 with a 7-0 shut out over Birmingham Southern. With the loss the Panthers fall to 1-2 on the year.

Furman dominated doubles play dropping only four games in all three doubles match victories, giving the Lady Paladins a 1-0 lead. Furman did not let up heading into singles play, as they captured all six singles matches in straight sets. In flight one Caroline Bentley downed Jennifer Williams 6-2, 6-1 and at No.2 Shannon Moore defeated Rachel Malina 7-6(10), 6-1. Playing at No.3 Marti Morris ousted Daisy Humphrey 6-3, 6-1, while Jacqueline Eckert hit her way past Casey Ragsdale at No.4 6-1, 7-5. In flight five Lauren Osborne picked up a win over Cammie Nix 6-2, 6-3 and in the last match in flight six Bonnie Baird eased by Stephanie Boucher 6-3, 6-0.

The Lady Paladins return to action on Friday for a home match against Georgia State at 5 PM.
