  • Furman Captures Third-Straight Germann Cup As SoCon’s Top Women’s Sports Program; Paladins Finish Third In Commissioner’s Cup Race

    Furman captured its third-straight straight Germann Cup and finished third in the Commissioner’s Cup standings, it was announced on Tuesday by the Southern Conference at its annual league meetings in Hilton Head, S.C.  The Germann Cup and Commissioner’s Cup are awarded annually to the Southern Conference schools fielding the league’s best all-around women’s and men’s sports programs, respectively.

    Sophomore Katarina Kozarov, the 2018 Southern Conference Player of the Year, beat Alory Pereira, 7-5, 6-4, at flight one singles to clinch the winning point as top-seeded Furman beat second-seeded ETSU, 4-1, to win the Southern Conference Championship Sunday at the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tenn.
  • Furman Sweeps Chattanooga, 4-0, To Reach SoCon Championship Match

    SoCon regular season champion Furman swept fourth-seeded Chattanooga, 4-0, Saturday in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Championships at the Champions Club in Chattanooga, Tenn.  With the win, the Paladins (19-8, 7-0 SoCon) advance to the tournament’s championship match, where they will face No. 2 seed ETSU Sunday at 2 p.m. at McCallie School. Furman is seeking its second-straight league title and 18th overall.

  • Furman's Kozarov Named SoCon Player Of The Year; Five Paladins Earn SoCon Postseason Honors

    Furman’s Katarina Kozarov has been named the 2018 Southern Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Year, and a total of five Paladins earned SoCon postseason honors, as announced today by the league office.  Postseason balloting was conducted by the league’s head coaches, who were not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.

    The Furman women’s tennis team will vie for its third-straight Southern Conference regular season championship Saturday when the Paladins entertain Samford at noon at the Mickel Tennis Center in Greenville, S.C.  Prior to the match, the team will honor seniors Aryn Greene and Gabby Rodriguez in their final home match. 
  • Furman Adds Melville & Hyche For 2018-19

    Furman women’s tennis head coach Adam Herendeen announced today that Taylor Melville and Mary Hunter Hyche will join the team for the 2018-19 season.  Melville and Hyche join Julia Adams of Knoxville, Tenn., and Eva Borders of Louisville, Ky., who will also join the Paladins as freshmen next season.  
  • Furman's Kozarov Named SoCon Player Of The Week

    Furman’s Katarina Kozarov has been named the Southern Conference women’s tennis player of the week for all matches played April 3-9, the conference announced Tuesday. The Paladins have won their last nine matches after picking up conference wins over Western Carolina and ETSU over the weekend. This is the second weekly award of the season for Kozarov. 
  • Furman Holds Off ETSU, 4-3, To Remain Unbeaten In League Play

    With the score knotted at 3-all, senior Gabby Rodriguez outlasted Yi Chi Ma, 7-6, 1-6, 7-6(6) at flight six singles to lead Furman past East Tennessee State, 4-3, Friday at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex in Johnson City, Tenn.  With the win, the Paladins (16-8, 6-0 SoCon) remain unbeaten in the Southern Conference and extend their winning streak to nine matches.  ETSU drops to 9-10 overall and 4-2 in league play.

    The Furman women’s tennis team will travel to Johnson City, Tenn., Friday for an 11 a.m. match up against East Tennessee State at the Dave Mullins Tennis Complex.  The match was originally scheduled for Saturday but was moved due to predicted inclement weather in the Johnson City area.

    Furman topped Western Carolina, 6-1, Wednesday at the Catamount Athletic Complex in Cullowhee, N.C.  With the win, the Paladins remain unbeaten in the Southern Conference and extend their winning streak to eight matches.

    Football All-American Matthew Schmidt and softball standout Lindsey Bert were recognized as 2017-18 Furman Male Athlete of the Year and Edna Hartness Female Athlete of the Year, respectively, at Furman’s “ESPY” style awards banquet Monday evening at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Greenville.
