GREENVILLE, S.C. -- Furman senior Lauren Kline is ranked 68th nationally among all women's tennis singles players, according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) preseason rankings.
Kline, a native of Prospect, Ky., was named to the All-Southern Conference second team for singles last season after notching an 8-14 overall record and 5-4 conference mark at number one singles for the Paladins. During the 2012 fall season, Kline notched victories over Krisztina Kapitany of Purdue and Alabama's Natalia Maynetto at the Duke Fab 4 Invitational then defeated 26th-ranked Zoe DeBruycker of North Carolina, 6-4, 6-4, at the Furman Fall Classic.
Furman opens the 2013 season January 19-21 at the UCF Invitational in Orlando, Fla. The Paladins return eight players from last season's team that posted a 14-10 overall record and an 8-2 mark in Southern Conference play. Head coach Debbie Southern, who is in her 29th season at Furman, guided the 2012 team to the semifinals of the league tournament.
