Furman To Participate In USTA's Campus Kids' Days Saturday

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's tennis team will participate in the USTA's Campus Kids' Days Saturday when the team concludes the 2012 regular season by entertaining Davidson at 1 p.m. at the Mickel Tennis Center.  

Beginning at 12:30 p.m., kids are invited to the meet the 2012 Lady Paladins during a poster signing session.  Participants can enter a raffle for great prizes, take a picture with the team between singles & doubles, and enjoy pizza and refreshments as a part of the event.  

Furman (11-9, 6-2 SoCon) will also honor senior Susan Bitetti and junior Olivia Maurice prior to their final career home match.

The match marks the 50th meeting between the two schools.  The Paladins hold a 44-5 series lead after defeating the Wildcats, 6-1, last season.  Davidson enters Saturday's match with a 5-17 overall record and 2-7 league mark after beating Wofford, 5-2, on Wednesday in Spartanburg.

The 2012 Southern Conference Men's & Women's Tennis Championships will take place next week from Thursday, April 19th through Sunday, April 22nd. This will be the 63rd annual SoCon Men's and the 29th annual SoCon Women's Tennis Championship.  The championships will be held in Charleston, S.C. and hosted by the College of Charleston and The Citadel.  

The winners of the tennis championships will receive the conference's automatic bids to the NCAA men's and women's tournament.  In the women's championship, teams seeded 8-11 will open the tournament on Thursday, while seeds 1-5 will earn a bye and begin competition on Friday.
