Furman Softball Set To Host Fall Ball Tournament This Weekend

Furman Fall Ball Schedule

Greenville, S.C. -- The defending Southern Conference Champion Furman Lady Paladin softball team will host its annual Furman Fall Ball Tournament September 21-23, at Heritage Park in Simpsonville, S.C.

The 11-team tournament field includes Aiken Tech, Anderson, Erskine, host Furman, Newberry, North Greenville, Southern Wesleyan, Spartanburg Methodist, USC Upstate, Young-Harris and Wingate. Play gets underway Friday evening with two games at 6 p.m. followed by two more at 8 p.m.

Saturday's softball action begins at 10 a.m. with Furman set to open play at 12 p.m. The Lady Paladins will face the Erskine Flying Fleet at noon before taking on Newberry at 2 p.m. Head coach Dana Jenkins' squad will finish the day facing Wingate in an 8 p.m. contest. Eight games are scheduled for Sunday highlighted by Furman versus Spartanburg Methodist at 10 a.m.

Furman returns four position starters and its top three pitchers from a 2007 team that captured the SoCon Tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Regionals.
