Sophomore Amber Kiser has been named the Southern Conference Softball Player-of-the-Month for May, it was announced on Monday by the league office.
Kiser batted .324 with a double, two triples, six RBI and six runs while leading Furman to the Southern Conference Tournament title and the school's first ever NCAA berth last month. The Lady Paladin centerfielder went 9-of-26 with four RBI and six runs scored on her way to earning tournament most outstanding player honors.
With Furman trailing by a run in the bottom of the eighth inning of the SoCon Tournament Finals against Georgia Southern, Kiser tripled and scored to tie the game and keep Furman alive. With a 3-2 count and two outs in the bottom of the ninth, she doubled down the left field line to score Danielle Franklin with the winning run. Kiser also registered a hit and a run at the NCAA Tournament.
