Bert Garners FastPitch News Honorable Mention All-American Honors

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman senior Lindsey Bert was selected to the 2018 FastPitch News Honorable Mention All-America squad, it was announced on Tuesday.

The left-hander, who posted a 28-9 record in the circle with a 1.51 earned run average en route to earning NFCA All-South Region honors and 2017-18 Furman Edna Hartness Female Athlete of the Year accolades, guided the Paladins to a 41-15 record this past season. The 2017 and 2018 Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year, she finished the campaign with a nation-leading 353 strikeouts and second in the country with 14 shutouts. Her 28 victories ranked as the ninth-best total in NCAA Division I, while her 9.5 strikeouts per seven innings was good for 10th best in the nation.

A native of Tallahassee, Fla., Bert finished her collegiate career with school records for career wins (88), shutouts (32) and strikeouts (915). Her 12 SoCon Pitcher of the Week citations and four SoCon Pitcher of the Month scrolls during her career are both league records. She posted a 3-1 record and hurled two shutouts at the SoCon Softball Championship to eclipse the SoCon record for strikeouts in a single season.

Furman 41 wins this season marked the second highest wins total in school history in the most by a Paladins squad since 1988.
