Furman Softball’s Bert Named To NFCA All-South Region Squad

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman softball's Lindsey Bert added to her lengthy list of postseason honors on Thursday when she was named to the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-South Region Third Team for the second straight year.

The Paladins' senior, who was named as Furman's 2017-18 Edna Hartness Female Athlete of the Year earlier this spring, fashioned a 28-9 record in the circle with a 1.51 earned run average, while helping Furman to a 41-15 record this season. The 2017 and 2018 Southern Conference Pitcher of the Year, Bert leads the nation in shutouts (14) and strikeouts (353). Her 28 victories are tied for second most in NCAA Division I.

A native of Tallahassee, Fla., Bert finished her collegiate career with school records for career wins (88), shutouts (32) and strikeouts (915). Her 12 SoCon Pitcher of the Week citations and four SoCon Pitcher of the Month scrolls during her career are both league records. She posted a 3-1 record and hurled two shutouts at the SoCon Softball Championship to eclipse the SoCon record for strikeouts in a single season.

Furman 41 wins this season marked the second highest wins total in school history in the most by a Paladins squad since 1988.
