Chattanooga, Tenn. -- Aly Walker lined a two-run homer over the right-center field fence with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to break a scoreless tie and hand Chattanooga a 2-0 victory over Furman in game one of a three-game Southern Conference softball series on Saturday afternoon at Frost Stadium.

Celie Hudson tossed a one-hitter in the circle for the Mocs (21-22, 6-4 SoCon) to improve to 10-10 on the season. She fanned four batters and issued just one walk in the complete-game effort. Furman's Lindsey Bert (19-8) suffered the loss allowing two runs on four hits over 6.2 innings. The left-hander fanned nine batters to become the schools single season strikeout record holder with 249 during her senior season.

With two outs and nobody on base in the bottom of the seventh, Chattanooga's Emma Sturdivant drew a four-pitch walk before Walker clubbed the first pitch from Bert over the wall for her second homer of the season.

Furman (31-11, 3-4 SoCon) has just three runners reach base in the series opener as Bert was hit by a pitch and Candace Johnson provided a single and a base on balls. Walker finished 2-for-3 for the Mocs.

Game two was suspended in the middle off the third with Furman leading 7-4 following a six-run top of the third that was highlighted by Emma Ogburn's three-run homer. The second game will continue at 1 p.m. on Sunday. Game three of the weekend series is set for Sunday at 2 p.m.
