Greenville, S.C. -- Furman, riding a seven-game winning streak, returns to action on Saturday when it opens a crucial three-game Southern Conference series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader versus Chattanooga at Jim Frost Stadium in Chattanooga, Tenn. The series is slated to conclude with a single game on Sunday at 2 p.m.

The Paladins improved to 31-10 and clinched their fourth consecutive 30-win season with an 8-0, 63 doubleheader sweep at Charleston Southern on Wednesday, while the Mocs downed UAB, 3-1, to up their record to 19-22 on the season. Furman enters the weekend at 3-3 in league play and Chattanooga comes into Saturday's twinbill sporting a 5-4 SoCon record.

Senior Lindsey Bert (19-7, 1.78 ERA) and junior Emily DeMonte (12-1, 2.50 ERA) have powered a Paladin pitching staff that has posted a 2.43 earned run average for the season and held each of its last nine opponents to three or fewer runs. Bert, the reigning SoCon Player and Pitcher of the Week, continued her stellar play by tossing a shutout in game one versus the Bucs on Wednesday before picking up the save in game two. The left-hander, who also tallied a double and homer at the plate, needs just six strikeouts to become Furman's single season strikeouts leader.

The Furman offense provided three walk-off homers in a series sweep of ETSU last weekend and picked up where it left off on Wednesday by belting seven homers in the sweep of Charleston Southern. Senior first baseman AnnaRose Borrelli has clubbed five homers in the Paladins last five games to give her 10 for the season and a school record 31 long balls for her career.

Furman enters the weekend leading the league with 10 triples and ranking second in the SoCon in homers (38) and runs (190). The Paladins have also swiped a league-high 63 bases on 73 attempts this season led by Lauren Duggar's 20 steals and Caroline Cash's 18 thefts.

Chattanooga, 2-2 versus the Paladins last season, has paced the SoCon with a .294 team batting average and ranks second in the league with 51 doubles.

All three games this weekend will be streamed on the newly launched, subscription-based ESPN+ with live stats also available for all three contests. Links for the live stream and statistics can be found at FurmanPaladins.com.
