AnnaRose Borrelli's double off the top of the center field wall plated Johnson before pinch runner Amanda Fleming scored on Marissa Guimbarda's line drive single off of the glove of the Spartans' shortstop. Pinch runner Hannah Seaver scored from second base for the fourth run of the frame when Norfolk State failed to handle a pop fly in shallow left field.

The Paladins added single runs in the second and third on Borrelli's bases loaded grounder and Hannah Reynolds' solo blast, while Bert struck out the side in the top of the second and third innings. Johnson added another insurance run with a solo homer to center in the bottom of the fourth.

Halford took the loss after allowing six runs on seven hits in three innings of work. She also collected two hits at the plate for the Spartans.
