Furman Softball Twinbill Versus Gardner-Webb Moved To Friday
Greenville, S.C. – Furman's weekend softball doubleheader at Gardner-Webb, originally scheduled for Saturday at 1 p.m., has been moved to Friday afternoon at 1:00 due to forecasts calling for freezing temperatures and possible precipitation on Saturday.
The Paladins opened their season this past weekend with a 3-1 record at Auburn University's Plainsman Invitational. Junior Lauren Collier pitched the Paladins to a 4-2 victory over Army in Friday's season opener before the host Tigers claimed a 9-1 win over Furman in the night cap. On Saturday, Furman rallied from a 4-0 deficit to upend Kent State, 8-5, and capped tournament play with a 3-1 victory over Austin Peay on Sunday morning.
Collier posted a 2-0 record and 1.17 ERA in the circle for the weekend while batting .455 with three doubles and four RBI at the plate. Freshman lefthander Meaghan Houston appeared in all four games, posting a 1-0 record, two saves and a 0.78 ERA. Opponents batted just .071 against Houston who surrendered only two hits over nine innings of work.
