Greenville, S.C. - Furman's men's and women's soccer teams have both been named as recipients of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America's (NSCAA) Team Academic Award given to collegiate soccer teams who posted a 3.0 or better GPA for the 2006-07 academic year.

Furman was one of only 73 schools nationwide in all NCAA divisions to have both its men's and women's programs earn the prestigious honor and the only school in the Southern Conference to place both squads on the list.

Furman experienced similar success on the field this year. Head coach Doug Allison's Paladins posted a 19-4-0 record, claimed the Southern Conference regular season title, SoCon Tournament championship and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament this season. The Paladins swept the league's annual awards as Allison garnered coach-of-the-year honors, midfielder Haris Cekic was named freshman-of-the-year and senior Jon Leathers earned his second straight SoCon Player-of-the-Year nod.

Head coach Andrew Burr led his Lady Paladins to a 16-6-1 overall record and Southern Conference Tournament title. Senior forward Anna Betton claimed SoCon Player-of-the-Year honors while fellow first team all-league pick Rachel Fry earned SoCon Tournament Most Outstanding Player accolades.
