Mt. Pleasant, S.C. -- Furman’s Margaret Antonik and Katya Gokhman have been named to the Southern Conference All-Tournament Team, it was announced on Sunday following the SoCon Championship match.
Antonik, a junior defender from Lakeland, Fla., helped Furman post a pair of shutouts in the SoCon Tournament while extending its streak of consecutive minutes without allowing a goal to 434:15. The Paladins blanked Davidson 1-0 before tying UNC Greensboro 0-0. The Spartans advanced to the SoCon championship match on penalty kicks, 4-2.
Gokhman, a freshman midfielder, netted her first career goal in the 89th minute versus Davidson to help the fifth-seeded Paladins slip past the fourth-seeded Wildcats, 1-0.
The 2008 Furman women’s soccer team, which had just two seniors on its roster, finished the season with a 14-6-2 record.
