The third-seeded Furman Lady Paladins will travel to Cullowhee, N.C., Friday to face seventh-seeded Georgia Southern in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championships at 4:30 p.m.
Furman cruised past Appalachian State in Tuesday's quarterfinals by a 4-0 margin. Georgia Southern pulled the biggest surprise of the opening round winning 1-0 at number two seed Davidson.
Furman is 10-9-1 on the season and is lead by the SoCon's leading scorer Anna Betton. The junior forward has poured in 12 goals this season while adding a pair of assists. Furman downed Georgia Southern 3-0 in the only regular season meeting between the two schools on October 12, in Greenville.
The Furman-Georgia Southern match will be followed by fifth-seeded Western Carolina hosting top-seeded UNC Greensboro at 7:00 p.m. The winners of Friday's semis will meet in the championship match at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday in Cullowhee.
