Five Lady Paladin Soccer Players Earn All SoCon

GREENVILLE, South Carolina -
Five members of the Furman women's soccer team were named All-Southern Conference in voting by the league's 11 head coaches, it was announced Wednesday night at the annual SoCon Women's Soccer Banquet in Greenville.
Seniors Andréa Morrison, Katharine Kelley, Tara Marker and Andie Hinshaw were selected First Team All-Southern Conference while midfielder Nicky Darling was named to the second team. The Lady Paladins four first team selections led all SoCon teams.
Morrison, a 2003 first team all-league pick, has paced the Lady Paladins with 15 goals and 34 total points this season. The 2003 SoCon Player-of-the-Year and 2002 and 2004 SoCon Tournament MVP has netted four game-winning goals.
Kelley, a 2003 and 2004 first team all-league selection, becomes just the ninth player in Southern Conference history to garner three First Team All-SoCon scrolls. Furman's midfield leader has tallied four goals and two assists on the season.
A two-time first team pick, Marker has netted five goals, including two game winners, in Furman's last seven matches. The midfielder has tallied six goals and 14 points in 2005.
Goalkeeper Andie Hinshaw, a 2003 first team all-league pick and 2002 second team selection, has already equaled her own school record with nine shutouts this season. The SoCon's career leader in shutouts with 34, Hinshaw has posted a 0.95 goals against average this season while recording a school record streak of four matches without allowing a goal.
Darling, a midfielder, becomes just the fourth player in Furman history to earn All-SoCon honors four times. Despite missing sevral game due to injury, Darling has netted six goals and added four assists.
Second-seeded Furman, 12-5-2 overall and 7-1-2 in SoCon play, opens Southern Conference Tournament play Thursday when it hosts seventh-seeded Wofford at Stone Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
