Sept. 27, 2005

Greenville, S.C. - Lady Paladin senior Andre'a Morrison has been named Southern Conference Women's Soccer Player-of-the-Week for September 27, it was announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Morrison, the SoCon's 2003 Player-of-the-Year, netted four goals and registered two assists while leading the Lady Paladins to road victories over East Carolina and The Citadel this past week.

The Kernersville, N.C., native notched a goal and an assist as Furman downed East Carolina 3-2 on Wednesday. On Sunday, Morrison grabbed her fourth career hat trick and added her third assist of the season in Furman's 9-0 win at The Citadel in its Southern Conference opener.

With the hat trick, Morrison upped her career goal total to 39, moving her past Melissa Sutton for fourth on Furman's all-time goal scoring ledger. The forward's 10 goals and 23 total points lead the Southern Conference. Morrison currently ranks sixth nationally in goals scored and 14th in goals per match.

The player-of-the-week citation is her third as a Lady Paladin, one short of former Lady Paladin Emily Turgeon's school record of four.

Furman continues SoCon play Thursday when it travels to face the College of Charleston Cougars in a 7 p.m. clash at Patriots Point in Mount Pleasant, S.C.
