Victor, Myatt Earn Annual Coleman Lew Leadership Award

Greenville, S.C. - Furman soccer standouts Rob Victor and Kate Myatt were named as two of the 21 recipients of the third annual Coleman Lew Leadership Award at the Southern Conference's annual meetings in Hilton Head, S.C., Wednesday night.

Coleman Lew & Associates, Inc., a national executive search firm, and the Southern Conference announced the selection of 21 student athletes as recipients of the third annual Coleman Lew Leadership Award which recognizes scholar-athletes from each of the Southern Conference's 11 member institutions.

Coaches, faculty athletic representatives and senior woman administrators nominate prospective candidates based on leadership, academic excellence and athletic achievement in both the college environment and the community. Athletic directors and representatives from Coleman Lew & Associates conducted one-on-one interviews with the finalists before determining the award recipients.

Victor, a native of Aiken, S.C., appeared in 20 matches and netted one goal while helping lead Furman to a 19-4-0 overall record and 7-0-0 SoCon mark. The junior helped Furman to the Southern Conference regular season and tournamen titles, as well as, an NCAA Tournament victory over Campbell.

Myatt started in all 23 matches for the Furman women's team an anchored a defense that allowed just 24 goals all season. The junior from Marietta, Ga., guided Furman to a 16-6-1 record, SoCon Tournament title and berth in the NCAA Tournament.

The award winners are given congratulatory plaques to recognize their achievements. During their search for post-graduation employment, each of the award winners has access to Coleman Lew consultants for advice and counseling. Coleman Lew prepares the students' profiles based on their individual interviews and resumes, and provides this information to a list of well respected companies.
