2007 Schedule

Greenville, S.C. -- Appearances in the LSU Classic and Carolinas' Cup, along with home contests against Southern Conference contenders Davidson and UNC Greensboro, highlight Furman's 18-game 2007 women's soccer schedule released this week by head coach Andrew Burr.

The Lady Paladins open the regular season on August 31, in Baton Rouge, La., at the LSU Classic before beginning their home schedule against USC Upstate on September 6, at Eugene Stone III Soccer Stadium.

September 14 and 16, Furman will travel to Charlotte, N.C., to take part in the annual Carolina's Cup. The Lady Paladins battle nationally-ranked Clemson on Friday night before taking on South Carolina on Sunday.

Furman begins Southern Conference play by hosting Western Carolina on September 27. Davidson (Oct. 4) and Wofford (Oct. 14) also visit Greenville before arch-rival UNC Greensboro comes to Stone Stadium on October 21.

"I feel like we have a strong schedule for this season, including two outstanding tournaments in the LSU Classic and Carolinas' Cup," said Burr. "The Southern Conference will be as tough as always and we have some exciting home games with Western Carolina, Davidson, Wofford, UNC Greensboro and Chattanooga coming to Greenville."

First round SoCon Tournament action will take place on November 4, with the top four seeds hosting. The semifinals and final are slated for November 9 and 11, respectively, in Davidson, N.C.

Furman kicks off the season with an exhibition game at former SoCon rival East Tennessee State at 2 p.m. on August 24.

The Lady Paladins return nine starters, including three All-SoCon performers, from a 2006 team that posted an 11-10-1 overall record and 6-3-1 league mark. Furman is led by senior forward Anna Betton who led the SoCon with 14 goals as a junior.
