Cullowhee, N.C. - Emily Krankowski scored the game-winner and Briana da Mota earned a shutout as Furman defeated Georgia Southern 2-0 on Friday night to earn a birth in the Southern Conference Championship on Sunday.

Krankowski got Furman on the board in the 73rd minute as she took the ball and dribbled through the Ea gle defense. The junior beat the Georgia Southern goalkeeper and slotted a shot into the back of the net for her third goal of the season.

Anna Betton added an insurance goal in the 86th minute off an assist from Margaret Antonik. Antonik played a low cross through traffic in to the box, and Betton knocked it past the `keeper for her league-leading 13th goal of the season.

Furman will return to action on Sunday as the Lady Paladins play the winner of the UNCG-Western Carolina semi-final matchup. The Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championship will be held on Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
