Box Score

Greenville, SC - Despite outshooting the Terriers 17-4, Furman tied Wofford 0-0 in an exciting match on Sunday evening. Andie Hinshaw made two saves for Furman to earn the shutout, her ninth of the year, tying her own single-season record. The shutout was also her sixth in the last seven matches. Wofford goalkeeper Bernie Sikes recorded seven saves to earn her fourth shutout of the season.

"We played well tonight; we just weren't able to convert a goal," said senior forward Andre'a Morrison. "We have seven days to recover, so we just need to get ready to play on Sunday against Greensboro."

Furman's first scoring chance came in the 29th minute as Katie Tucker sent a square pass into the penalty area. Emily Krankowski dummied the ball, and Kate Myatt sent a shot to the near post, but Wofford goalkeeper Bernie Sikes made a sliding save.

Tara Marker's shot from 35 yards in the 44th minute forced Sikes into another save.

Marker looked for her third goal in three matches in the 58th minute, but her header was inches above the crossbar.

Katherine Kelley's shot from 25 yards in the 76th minute forced Sikes into a leaping save.

Furman had another scoring chance in the 81st minute as Rachel Fry brought the ball into the Wofford penalty area. The freshman sent a looping shot toward goal, but Sikes was able to push the shot over the endline.

Regulation ended in a scoreless tie even though Furman held a commanding 14-4 lead in shots. Sikes recorded six saves in regulation to keep Wofford in the match.

Rachel Fry's rocketed shot from 20 yards out was just wide of the near post in the third minute of overtime.

Andre'a Morrison raced down the left sideline before cutting back into the penalty area. Her shot from 15 yards in the ninth minute of overtime was saved by Sikes.

Emotions ran high in the second overtime as Furman's Katie Tucker and Wofford's Ashley Worley were each sent off after a scuffle 35 yards from goal.

With time running out, Morrison looked to be taken down in the box after beating the last Wofford defender, but no penalty was awarded as time expired.

The tie moves Furman to 11-5-2 overall, 6-1-2 in the Southern Conference. Wofford's record goes to 4-10-2 on the season, 3-3-1 in conference play. The Lady Paladins return to action next Sunday as Furman plays host to UNC-Greensboro.
