Ed Stein is entering his fifth season as volunteer assistant coach for the Lady Paladins. Stein, a former Furman keeper, serves as goalkeeper coach for the team.

He was a member of the Furman men's soccer team from 1989-92, and helped lead Furman to three Southern Conference regular season championships and two SoCon Tournament championships. Stein was a teammate of head coach Andrew Burr and former head coach and current LSU coach Brian Lee during that time. Lee and Stein were key members of the 1991 squad that knocked off Wake Forest in the first round to earn the first NCAA tournament win in Furman's history.

Stein completed his career with a 1.26 goals against average and recorded 21 shutouts over his career. He was named to the Southern Conference's 75th Anniversary Team in 1996 as the top goalkeeper in Southern Conference men's soccer history.

Stein, a 1993 Furman graduate, is a Commercial Relationship manager at First Union in Greenville. He is a member of the Paladin Club board and is president of the Letterman's Association. He was selected as the Paladin Club Volunteer-of-the-Year for the 2000-2001 school year.

Stein and his wife, Ann, have a five-year old son, Connor and a three-year old son, Dylan.
