Allen, Poe Named To SoCon All-Tournament Team

Greenville, S.C. -- Senior Jenny Allen and junior Virginia Poe were named to the Southern Conrerence All-Tournament Team, it was announced on Sunday following the league's championship match.

Allen, a midfielder from Lilburn, Ga., and Poe, a center back from Jacksonville, Ala., helped Furman to a 2-1 come-from-behind victory over ETSU in the opening round of the league tournament before the Paladins fell to Western Carolina in the semifinal round in Birmingham, Ala., on Firday.

A starter in 17 of the Paladins' 18 matches, Allen tallied two goals and one assists in her only season at Furman after transfering from Armstrong State. Poe started in 16 matches and helped the Paladins post 11 shutouts and hold opponents to just 11 goals in 18 matches during the 2017 season. Furman surrendered only one goal in nine SoCon regular season contests.

The Paladins finished the season at 13-3-2 overall, 8-0-1 in league play and earned a share of the SoCon regular season title.
