Paladin Soccer’s Weaver Garners SoCon Player Of The Month Honors

Greenville, S.C. -- Furman goalkeeper Kellsey Weaver has been named Southern Conference Women's Soccer Player of the Month for October, it was announced on Thursday by the SoCon office.

Weaver, a native of Newnan, Ga., posted a 6-0-1 record, 0.30 goals against average, .895 saves percentage and guided the Paladins to five shutouts this past month. She surrendered just two goals in over 600 minutes in net during October and picked up her second SoCon Player of the Week citation this season after stopping four shots in a scoreless draw at Samford on October 22, that clinched the SoCon regular season title and No. 1 seed for the SoCon Women's Soccer Championship.

The sophomore has led the SoCon and ranks 26th nationally with a 0.57 goals against average and has directed the Paladins to a league-high 11 shutouts in 17 matches this season. Weaver and the Paladins have allowed just two goals since September 1.

No. 1 seed Furman is set to face No. 4 seed Western Carolina in the SoCon semifinals on Friday, November 3, in Birmingham, Ala. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. ET. The winner will face the winner of Friday's Samford versus Mercer match in the championship match on Sunday, November 5, at 2 p.m. ET on ESPN3.
