Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman women's soccer team was picked to finish second in the league standings in preseason polling of the Southern Conference's 10 head coaches, while forwards Treva Aycock and Molly Dwyer, midfielder Rachel Shah and defender Sanon Williams were named to the preseason All-SoCon squad, it was announced on Thursday.

Three-time defending champion Samford received a maximum eight first place votes and was pick as the league favorite with Furman and ETSU tabbed to finish in a tie for second place. UNCG, Mercer, Chattanooga, Western Carolina, VMI, The Citadel and Wofford rounded out the 10-team preseason poll.

Shah, a senior from Alpharetta, Ga., was picked to repeat as a first team All-SoCon selection. She tallied five goals and added four assists last season, while also netting Furman's first goal in a 3-2 exhibition loss at Vanderbilt on Wednesday evening.

Aycock, a sophomore, scored five goals as a freshman and totaled a team-best eight assists en route to earning SoCon All-Freshman accolades. The Marietta, Ga., product recorded a hat trick in the Paladins' 3-2 regular season win over Samford in 2016.

Dwyer, a senior from Knoxville, Tenn., netted a team-high 10 goals and registered five assists a year ago. She finished with three match-winning goals en route to earning second team All-SoCon honors.

Williams, a senior and Stone Mountain, Ga., native, proved to be an anchor for the Paladin defense as a center back and defensive midfielder last season as Furman limited the opposition to just 16 goals in 19 matches. She added two goals and one assist to support the Paladins' offensive attack in 2016.

Furman hosts Air Force in exhibition action at 11 a.m. on Saturday before entertaining USC Upstate in the regular season opener on Seagraves Field at Stone Soccer Stadium on August 18, at 7 p.m.
