Dwyer, Shah Lead Furman Past Presbyterian, 3-0

Clinton, S.C. -- Molly Dwyer netted two goals and Rachel Shah added a goal and an assist to lead the Furman women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over Presbyterian on Tuesday night at Martin Stadium in Clinton, S.C.

The win upped the Paladins record to 5-1-1, while the Blue Hose slipped to 1-5-0.

Shah, a native of Alpharetta, Ga., opened the scoring from the penalty spot at the 28:33 mark by slotting her shot past PC goalkeeper Cadye Picklesimer. Dwyer setup the spot kick when she was tackled from behind on the edge of the box.

Just 24 seconds later, Shah repaid the favor by playing a long ball over the defense to Dwyer. The Knoxville, Tenn., product poked a shot past the charging Picklesimer to up the margin to 2-0. After a second half the produced few shots on target, Dwyer netted her second goal of the night and team-best fifth of the season 11 seconds from the final whistle by finishing from inside the box on an assist from Kristian Leone.

Freshman Kellsey Weaver earned the shutout and her first career win in goal. The Newnan, Ga., product collected three saves on the night.

Furman managed a 22-7 edge in shots and 7-3 advantage in shots on goal, while improving to 11-0-0 all-time against the Blue Hose.

The Paladins return to action on Friday when they host the South Carolina State Bulldogs on Seagraves Field at Stone Stadium. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
