Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman women's soccer team extended its home unbeaten run to 14 matches and improved to 3-0-1 overall on the season with a 2-0 victory over the Davidson Wildcats in non-conference soccer action on Sunday afternoon at Stone Stadium.

The Paladins opened the scoring in the 27th minute when a Davidson defender cleared a free kick into the path of freshman Amanda Baker, who rocketed a volley from 17 yards out into the far right-side netting for her first collegiate goal.

Furman doubled its advantage in the 65th minute on junior Molly Dwyer's team-leading third tally of the season. Stephanie Arrington created space on the right side of the box after playing a give-and-go with Dwyer and lined a shot that Davidson goalkeeper Alex Carpenter dove to save. Dwyer pounced on the rebound and deposited the ball into an empty net to give the Paladins the 2-0 lead.

"I was certainly proud of the effort today," said Paladin head coach Andrew Burr. "Davidson's a good team who was coming in with several wins in a row, including a couple against Southern Conference teams, so we knew it was going to be a battle."

Redshirt senior goalkeeper Rose Hull notched two saves to improve to 3-0-0 in goal for the Paladins this season as Furman ran its shutout streak to 380 minutes and improved to 12-0-2 in the last 14 contests on Seagraves Field at Stone Stadium.

"I'm proud of our girls for staying focused," said Burr. "Our back four were very sharp and Rose Hull played very well today. We talk about getting shutouts. That's really our number one priority and that's what we're getting."

The Paladins compiled a 17-11 advantage in total shots, including an 8-2 lead in shots on goal against the Wildcats, who were coming off of wins versus Wofford and ETSU.

Carpenter took the loss in goal for Davidson despite stopping six shots.

Furman returns to action on Friday when it hosts the North Florida Osprey in a 7 p.m. contest at Stone Stadium. Fans can follow live stats and live video of the match by logging onto and can access game updates on Twitter by following @FurmanWSoccer.
