Greenville, S.C. -- Seven different players scored at least two goals and 13 players registered in the scoring column as Furman cruised to a 20-4 win over Howard on Saturday afternoon inside Paladin Stadium. The win moves Furman to 9-4 on the year (5-1 ASUN) and stretches the Paladins' winning streak to five, while the loss drops Howard to 0-9 on the year and 0-7 in ASUN play.
Ashley Trice, Paige Gamble, Abby Shields, Gaby Susz, Kasie Lilly, Grace Pollak, and Kristine Knowles all netted two goals on the afternoon, while Shields led all scorers with five points (2 goals, 3 assists). Gamble and Morgan Franklin each won a game-high six draws.
Nine different players accounted for a goal, as Furman opened the game on an 11-0 run, prompting Howard to call a timeout following a free position goal by Britt Douglass. Furman added another goal on a free position attempt by Alyssa Cooper to push the lead to 12-0, before Howard got on the board with a goal by Asiyah Frank with 5:00 to go in the half. Furman responded with back-to-back goals to push the lead to 14-1, before Howard used a goal by Natia Warren as the horn sounded to send the teams to halftime with the Paladins holding a 14-2 advantage.
Furman opened the second half with back-to-back goals to push the lead to 16-2, before the Bison used a free position goal to cut the lead to 16-3, but the Paladins responded with three-straight goals, including back-to-back scores by Gaby Susz to take a 19-3 advantage. The Paladins continued their solid offensive play, using a free position goal from Kristine Knowles to take a 20-3 lead. The Bison would get another goal to complete Natia Warren's hat trick, but the Paladins would hold the ball for most of the half en route to a 20-4 victory.
