Lady Paladin Golfers Sign Two In Early Period

Nov. 21, 2004

GREENVILLE, South Carolina - Furman golf coach Mic Potter announced on Sunday the signing of two prep athletes to National Letters of Intent to compete for the Lady Paladins beginning in 2005-06.

Kathleen Ekey of Wadsworth, Ohio, and Blair Lamb of Flat Rock, N.C., have decided to continue their educations and playing careers as members of the 15th ranked Furman golf team.

Ekey is the 2004 Ohio State Athletic Association Individual Champion and led her Walsh Jesuit High School to the team title. In addition, she was named All-State in 2002, 2003, and 2004, and is ranked 66th in the nation and 36th in the class of '05 in the GolfWeek Sagarin poll.

Just behind Ekey at No. 37 in the class of '05 Sagarin poll, is three-time North Carolina High School Athletic Association Individual Champion Blair Lamb. Lamb has led her East Henderson High School squad to the 2003 and 2004 state championship and, as an individual, set a new state scoring record in '03 with a six-under, 138.

"I am very excited about the quality of this recruiting class," said coach Mic Potter. "Both Kathleen and Blair have great experience on the AJGA level, and come from winning high school programs. I also think they will fit in well with the Furman team and the campus student body as a whole."
