Greenville, S.C. -- The Furman women's golf team will host the 37th annual Lady Paladin Invitational Friday through Sunday at the par-72, 6,288-yard Furman University Golf Course.
This year's 18-team tournament field includes five of the top 45 teams in the latest Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index. Among the top-ranked teams are 19th-ranked Notre Dame, 32nd-ranked Louisville and 37th-ranked Furman. Notre Dame enters this weekend's play having won three consecutive events.
The tournament, started in 1972, has hosted some of the top teams in collegiate golf and has been won by well known stars such as Betsy King, Nancy Lopez, Sherri Turner, Dottie Pepper and Donna Andrews. Furman has claimed the tournament title 14 times with the most recent coming in 2005. Last season Northwestern posted a three-round 912 to claim team honors while the Wildcats' Alice Kim took individual honors.
First round action begins Friday on holes one and 10 at 8:30 a.m. Furman will tee-off of number one beginning at 9:20 a.m. on Friday. Second round play is slated for 8:30 a.m. on Saturday with final round action scheduled for a shotgun start at 9 a.m. on Sunday.
Admission to all three rounds is free. Results from each round will be made available at www.furmanpaladins.com following that day's action.
