Suh Tied For Fourth at U.S. Amateur Public Links

July 12, 2005

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Rising Furman junior Jenny Suh carded a first-round 68 Monday at the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship and is in a tie for fourth, two strokes off the lead pace set by Angela Park of Torrance, Calif.

Suh carded a 35 out and a 33 in for her three under tally at the 6,047-yard, par 71 Swope Memorial golf Course.

Suh, the Southern Conference Player of the Year and a second team All-America as a sophomore believes the 2005 Public Links Champion wil have to be steely and aggressive.

"I think it will take confidence and guts to win because there are so many shots out there," said Suh. "I played gutsy out there (Monday) and I'll see if I can keep it up (Tuesday). Maybe I can grow some more guts overnight. We'll see."

Play in the Public Links, which is one of 10 national championships for amateurs conducted annually by the USGA, continues Tuesday with the second round of stroke play. After that, the top 64 scorers begin six rounds of match play, with the 36 hole championships slated for Saturday.
