Greenville, S.C. -
Furman women's golfer Kathleen Ekey has been named Southern Conference Golfer-of-the-Month for May, it was announced Monday by the league office.
Ekey (67-71-74=212) carded a four-under par 212 last month at the NCAA East Regional to claim a ninth place finish. The sophomore, who finished with the top individual score among SoCon golfers at the regional, led her team to an 11th place finish and the Lady Paladins' top two rounds (284, 290) of the season. Furman's opening round 284 was the school's best score ever in an NCAA Regional.
She earned a spot in a sudden death playoff for a trip to the NCAA Championships, but failed to advance when her opponent won a tie breaker after claiming it was too dark to continue play.
