Greenville, S.C. - Jackie Hilea has signed a National Letter-of-Intent to join the Furman women's golf program in the fall of 2007, its was announced this week by Lady Paladin coach Jen Hanna.

Hilea, a native of Kaneohe, Hawai'i, currently attends the International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, S.C. The Moanalua High School graduate captured the 2006 Hawai'i State Women's Golf Association Stroke Play Championship and the 2006 Hawai'i State Junior Golf Association Championship.

"Jackie is a long hitter with great potential who will be a tremendous asset as the Lady Paladins continue to rebuild and return to traditional form," said Hanna.

Playing on the International Junior Golf Tour, Hilea claimed first place at the Marco Island Tournament (73-73=146) last fall. In November, Hilea (79-77-73=229) finished second at the Fitness for Golf IJGT Player's Championship at the TPC Sawgrass.

Hilea led her high school team to a state title as a senior and finished second individually at the OIA Championships. As a junior, Hilea placed sixth at the AJGA Buick Junior Open.
