Greenville, S.C. - Furman sophomore Blair Lamb and former Lady Paladins Maggie Will and Sarah (Johnston) Sargent dominated the local qualifying rounds Monday to advance in their quest to qualify for the 2007 U.S. Women's Open June 28 - July 1, at the Pine Needles Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.

Lamb punched her ticket to next month's sectionals in Buies Creek, N.C., by finishing second with a 73 in the local qualifier at Horseshoe Bend Country Club in Roswell, Ga. The strong round marked the end of a busy golf week for Lamb who led Furman to an 11th place finish at the NCAA East Regional in Baton Rouge, La., this past weekend.

Sargent posted a dominating score of seven-under 65 to win the U.S. Open Qualifier at the Fairmont Country Club in Chatham, N.J. The former Furman All-American finished six strokes ahead of her nearest competitor. Will fired a three-under 69 to claim first place at the qualifier in Salisbury, N.C.

Furman head coach Jen Hanna, who qualified for the 2006 U.S. Open, was exempt from local qualifying and will participate in the June 11, sectional qualifier at Buies Creek.
