Lady Paladin Golfers In Third at NCAA East Regional

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -
Furman's 19th-ranked Lady Paladin golf team came one step closer to returning to the NCAA Championships for the second consecutive year, with rounds of 291-293 Friday at the NCAA Women's Golf East Regional at the University of Florida Golf Course.
With one round left to play at the 6,023-yard, par 70 U of F Course, the Lady Paladins are all alone in third place with a 584 tally, 18 strokes out of ninth place. The top eight teams will receive a berth in the NCAA Championships, May 17-20, in
Furman was paced on the day by sophomore Jenny Suh, who shot 69-69 and is in second place, one stroke off the lead pace of
Furman will play Saturday's final round paired with the tournament leading Buckeyes of Ohio State, and top seeded Duke, which is in second at 575, 10 strokes behind OSU and nine ahead of the Lady Paladins.
"I thought we did a tremendous job in difficult circumstances today," said coach Mic Potter following the 10-1/2 hour marathon double round. "We played 36 holes in weather that was cold and damp in the morning, on a course that was saturated, and we managed to stay focused and keep it under control today. The few times we started to slip our players fought for a few birdies and got us back up at the top of the leaderboard. I couldn't ask any more of this team than they gave today."
