Furman To Host SoCon Women's Golf This Weekend

GREENVILLE, South Carolina - The Furman University golf course will be the site of the 2005 Southern Conference Women's Golf Championships, this Friday through Sunday, April 22-24.
Now in its 12th year, the Southern Conference women's golf title has gone to Furman 10 times, with Western Carolina taking home top honors in 2003.
This year, No. 18 Furman enters the league championships ranked first in the Southern Conference, with a 302.54 stroke average. The Cougars of College of Charleston are second at 307.78, with East Tennessee State ranked third at 310.45.
Jenny Suh, a sophomore on the Furman squad, leads the individual rankings in the league with a 74.33 stroke average, while Ashley Barton of ETSU is second at 76.25 and Maria Ringdahl, also of ETSU, is third at 76.40. Suh tied former teammate Sarah Johnston for the Southern Conference individual title last year, before losing in a playoff to finish second.
Competition in the nine-team tournament begins at 9 a.m. Friday at the Furman University Golf Course. Tee times begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and 9:00 a.m. on Sunday. The course yardage will be set at 5,984, with a par of 72. Complete results will be available on the Furman website at www.furmanpaladins.com.
