Lady Paladin Golfers In Fourth at Lady Gamecock

BLYTHEWOOD, South CArolina - Furman's Lady Paladin golf team is in fourth place, 10 strokes off the lead, after carding a first-round 318 Friday at the Lady Gamecock Invitational.

Sophomore Jenny Suh paced the Furman squad and is tied for fourth after a first-round 76 at the 5,995-yard par 72 University Club, while Monique Gesualdi fired a 78 and is in 10th in the individual standings. Sophomore Theresa Paik, freshman Sarah Sturm, and senior Connor Atkinson are tied for 33rd after each carded a first-round 82.

The University of New Mexico fired a 308 to lead the Lady Gamecock Invitational at plus 20. LSU is in second at 21 over, while South Carolina sits in third at plus 25. USC's Caroline Rominger holds the individual lead after shooting an even-par 72 in the first round.

Round two of the Lady Gamecock Invitational is slated for Saturday, with the third and final round schedule to played out on Sunday. Furman's last victory in the Lady Gamecock came in 1993, while Kristel Mourgue d'Algue took medalist honors.
