Greenville, S.C. - The TCU women's golf team fired a second round 297 to claim first place and a seven-stroke advantage over first round leader East Tennessee State after two rounds of play at the 37th annual Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course on Saturday.
Four TCU golfers carded rounds of 75 or better, including Prisela Campbell's one-over-par 73, to give the Horned Frogs a six-stroke advantage over its nearest competitor on the second day of the tournament at the par-72, 6,288-yard course.
Laura Jansone (71-73=144) of ETSU posted a one-over 73 on Saturday to overtake UNC Wilmington's Carmen Perez-Narbon for the individual lead. TCU's Valentine Derrey (73-74=147) and Campbell (74-73=147) are tied for second at three-over with Perez-Narbon (70-78=148) and Ashley Mylton (74-74=148) of UNC Greensboro tied for fourth at four-over entering the final 18 holes.
The host Lady Paladins, who dropped to 16th after a second round 324, suffered an early setback on Saturday when junior Blair Lamb was forced to withdraw from the round battling mononucleosis. Freshman Stefanie Kenoyer posted the best round of the day for Furman carding a four-over-par 76 to earn a share of 14th place.
The 54-hole tournament will conclude on Sunday with a shotgun start scheduled for 9 a.m. Furman's five golfers will tee-off from holes 16-18 on Sunday.
