Northwestern Grabs Round One Lead At The Lady Paladin Invitational

Greenville, S.C. -- Northwestern's Alice Kim and Coastal Carolina's Araceli Felgueroso each posted an opening round 70 and the Wildcats shot a 14-over 302 to lead after day one of the Lady Paladin Invitational at the Furman University Golf Course on Friday.

Senior Theresa Paik and sophomore Kathleen Ekey each carded four-over par 74 to pace the Lady Paladins who sit in a tie for seventh entering Saturday's second round after a 311 (+23).

Only three golfers broke par on a windy opening 18 holes with Kim and Felgueroso firing 34 and 33, respectively, on the back nine. Carmen Parez of UNC Wilmington finished one stroke off of the pace at one-under par 71 while four are tied for fourth place at two-over par.

Northwestern holds a two shot lead on Augusta State and four shot advantage on East Tennessee State following round one action.

Saturday's second round is set to tee off at 8:30 a.m. with final round play scheduled for a shotgun start at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
