Gainesville, Fla. -- Junior Stefanie Kenoyer carded rounds of 72 and 73 on Saturday to grab a share of eighth place and help Furman (307-306=613) into 12th after two rounds at the SunTrust Gator Women’s Invitational at the par-70 Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.
Kenoyer, a native of Lighthouse Point, Fla., opened play Saturday morning with a two-over 72 and posted a three-over 73 during the afternoon round to maintain her spot in eighth place. Teammate Alexa Rancourt (72-75=147) birdied two of her first five holes to card a first round 72 before shooting five-over 75 in round two.
Laura Kueny (73-68=141) of Michigan State used a second round 68 to take a one-stroke advantage over Florida State’s Jessica Negron (69-73=142) and Florida’s Mia Piccio (70-72=142) entering the final round of the 54-hole tournament.
The Seminoles (297-280=577) shot even par in round two and opened a three-stroke lead on second place Michigan State (294-286=580) and 10-stroke edge on third place Florida (295-292=587).
Final round play is slated for Sunday morning with a shotgun start at 8:00.
