Women's Golf Closes Out LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic

Baton Rouge, La. - Sophomore Blair Lamb shot a team-best 74 on the final round at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic as the Furman women's golf team (318-308-309=935) finished in 17th place overall. Second-ranked Duke (298-288-286=872) won the tournament for the second straight year, holding a six-stroke advantage over Vanderbilt.

Lamb had Furman's best round for the second consecutive day, carding a three-round 224 (77-73-74) to finish in a tie for 21st overall. Theresa Paik ended competition in a tie for 54th after struggling with an 81 on the final 18 holes. Corrine Carr shot a 75 and Ashley Baker carded a 79 on Sunday.

Duke's Amanda Blumenherst won the individual crown by eight strokes. Blumenherst posted a three-round 207 (68-69-70) to hold a large lead over Auburn's Nicole Hage (72-72-71=215), Tennessee's Marci Turner (73-71-71=215) and Mississippi State's Amanda Mathis (71-69-75=215) who finished in a tie for second place.

The 21-team field featured 16 teams ranked in the Golfstat Top 50, with four ranked in the top 10.

The Lady Paladins will compete at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Athens, Ga., beginning next Friday, March 23.
