Women's Golf Continues Play at LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic

Baton Rouge, La. - The Furman women's golf team had a better showing on the links on Saturday, but so did most of its competition at the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic at the University Club Golf Course. In the field of 21 teams, the Lady Paladins (318-308=626) are in 17th place after 36 holes of play. Second-ranked Duke (298-288=586) took over the lead after shooting a 288 in the second round. The Blue Devils hold a three-stroke lead over No. 5 Auburn.
Sophomore Blair Lamb had Furman's best round of the day, shooting a one-over 73 (77-73=150). Lamb sits in a tie for 22nd place on the individual leader board. Tharesa Paik matched her opening round 76 and is currently tied for 31st place. Ashley Baker bettered her first-round total by five strokes, carding a 78 on Saturday. Rookie Corrine Carr scored an 81 in second-round action for the Lady Paladins.
Duke's Amanda Blumenherst is currently in first place with a seven-under 137 (68-69). She leads Mississippi State's Amanda Mathis by three strokes.
The 21-team field features 16 teams ranked in the Golfstat Top 50, with four ranked in the top 10.
The final round of play will take place tomorrow with a shotgun start at 9 a.m.
