Sorrento, Fla. -- Jackie Hilea recorded rounds of 74 and 72 on Monday to hold 11th place and help the Furman women’s golf team to a share of seventh place after 36 holes at the UCF Challenge at the par-72 Redtail Golf Club.
Hilea (74-72=146), a junior from Kaneohe, Hawaii, birdied four holes during her second round on Monday afternoon to climb into a tie for 11th following a two-over-par opening round in the morning. Fellow junior Stefanie Kenoyer (72-75=147) fired an even-par first round and a second round 75 to grab a share of 14th place.
Furman trails tournament leader Georgia State (292-299=591) by just nine strokes and is only two strokes behind a three-way tie for second place involving Texas A&M, UCF and Baylor. Oklahoma, College of Charleston, Coastal Carolina, Furman, Indiana and SMU round out the top 10 in the 17-team field.
Final round action at the 54-hole UCF Challenge is set for Tuesday morning.
