Furman Women's Golf Ranked 20th By WGCA

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- The Furman women's golf team is ranked 20th nationally for the second-consecutive spring ranking period by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), as released today by the organization.

The Paladins, who placed 11th at the 2018 NCAA Championships, claimed their fourth-straight SoCon Championship last season and return their top three golfers from 2018, including junior Natalie Srinivasan, who earned a WGCA All-America citation last season, and senior Haylee Harford, who joined Srinivasan on the Golfweek All-American list in 2018.  Harford, who is ranked 22nd nationally, and Srinivasan, who currently ranks 39th nationally, have been invited to play in the upcoming Augusta National Women's Amateur in April.

Furman opened the 2018 fall season with a fourth-place finish at the weather-shortened Cougar Classic, where Harford and Srinivasan tied for third to pace the Paladins.  The team then returned home to win the Lady Paladin Invitational, and Harford claimed individual medalist honors.  The Paladins placed four players among the top six and six players among the top 12.  In mid-October, Harford led Furman with an eighth-place finish at the Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational.

The Paladins began the 2019 spring season with an eighth-place finish at the Northrup Grumman Challenge in Palos Verdes, Calif.  Harford tied for 13th to pace Furman.  Last weekend at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, Furman also tied for eighth, and Srinivasan tied for 16th to lead the team.

Furman will compete at the Briar's Creek Invitational in Charleston, S.C., March 18-19.
