Furman Holds 14-Stroke Lead After Second Day Of Lady Paladin Invitational

GREENVILLE, S.C. -- For the second day in a row, senior Haylee Harford (-8) carded a 68 to move into sole possession of the individual lead and help the Furman women's golf team (-10) to a 14-stroke advantage Saturday at the 46th Annual Lady Paladin Invitational at the par-72, 6,278-yard Furman University Golf Course in Greenville, S.C.

Harford, who hails from Leavittsburg, Ohio, scored three birdies on the front, with consecutive birdies on No. 6 and No. 7, then added three additional birdies on the back to pace Furman with six birdies on the day.  She concluded the round with a two-stroke lead at eight-under.

Four players are tied for second place, including Furman's Jacqueline Bendrick (-3) and Natalie Srinivasan (-3).  Bendrick, a senior from Mercer Island, Wash., made the turn at even par then birdied No. 12 and No. 12 before eagling the par-5 No. 13. She added a final birdie on No. 17 to card a 70 on Saturday.  A junior from Spartanburg, S.C., Srinivasan notched four birdies, including three on the back nine, to finish the round with a one-under 71.  

Sophomore Carly Burkhardt (+5) recorded a 75 with a birdie on No. 3, tying for 34th, and junior Marra Burton (+7) added a 74 with birdies on No. 2 and No. 15 on Saturday.  She enters the final round tied for 44th.  

Furman sophomore Caitlin Cotterill (-1), playing as an individual, scored a hole in one on the par-3 No. 4, then birdied No. 5.  She is tied for sixth after posting an even 72 in round two.  Sophomore Madison Moosa (+1) and freshman Kyra Cox (+1) are playing as individuals and are tied for 12th.  Moosa fired a 70 with four birdies on the back nine, and Cox scored a 76 with birdies on No. 3 and No. 8.

The Paladins led the field with a 283 for the second-straight day.  Kennesaw State (+4) is in second, just two strokes ahead of third-place Coastal Carolina (+6).  Augusta State (+11) sits in fourth entering Sunday's final round, followed by North Florida (+13) two strokes back in fifth place.

The 54-hole tournament will conclude with a 9 a.m. shotgun start on Sunday.  Furman will tee off of holes No. 1 through 3 and will play in a group with Kennesaw State and Coastal Carolina.  Admission to the tournament is free and fans are welcome.  Results and live tournament scoring are available via www.FurmanPaladins.com and www.birdiefire.com.
