TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Jacqueline Bendrick (-5) tied her career-best, firing a 68 to pace seventh-ranked Furman (-13) Tuesday in the second round of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional at the par-72, 6,342 yard Don Veller Seminole Golf Club in Tallahassee, Fla.

Bendrick, a senior from Mercer Island, Wash., was one of three Furman players under par for the round, as Furman finished the day in a tie for third in the team race.  The 18-team regional field will battle in tomorrow's final round for a top six finish and a berth in the 24-team NCAA Championship, which will be held May 18-23 at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma.

Bendrick birdied her first two holes then added two additional birdies on the front to make the turn at 3-under.  She scored birdies on No. 12 and 15 on the back, finishing the day in eighth place.  Sophomore Natalie Srinivasan (-8) leads the Paladin individuals heading into Wednesday's final round, tying for fourth after carding a 71 with three birdies in round two.  She sits two strokes back of tenth-ranked Jennifer Kupcho (-10) of Wake Forest, who holds a one-stroke lead in the individual race after scoring a 64 on Tuesday.

Junior Haylee Harford (+2) also scored a 71 on Tuesday.  Harford recorded four birdies, including consecutive birdies on No. 11 and No. 12, to conclude the day tied for 36th.  Senior Alice Chen (-1) is tied for 25th going into Wednesday's last round after scoring a 73 with three birdies in the second round, and senior Reona Hirai (+7) is tied for 60th after adding a 77 with three birdies on Tuesday.

Second-ranked Alabama (-18) surged into the lead Tuesday, pacing the field with a 276.  No. 15 Washington (-14) is four strokes back in second, followed by Furman (-13) and host Florida State (-13) in a tie for third.  No. 29 Clemson (-12) sits in fifth, and tenth-ranked Arizona (-5) is in sixth place heading into the final round of play.

The Paladins will tee off of No. 1 at 9 a.m. in Wednesday's final round and play in a group with Clemson and Arizona.

Furman, which secured the Southern Conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament by capturing its 17th SoCon Championship last month at Moss Creek Country Club on Hilton Head Island, S.C., is making its fourth-consecutive and 22nd overall NCAA Regional appearance.  The Paladins appeared in 18-straight regionals from 1993, when the regional format began, until 2010.  Furman finished second last season at the NCAA Lubbock Regional in Lubbock, Texas, and went on to place 12th at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
